Noida Film City, India: A powerful workshop on Media Literacy was inaugurated by Dr. Sandeep Marwah, President of Marwah Studios and Chancellor of AAFT University of Media and Arts, at AAFT, Film City, Noida. The workshop was organized by RJS PBH Media under the leadership of senior journalist Uday Manna as part of the prestigious 14th Global Festival of Journalism & AVGC Noida 2026.
Addressing a packed auditorium of media professionals, academicians, and students, Dr. Sandeep Marwah emphasized the urgent need for media literacy in the digital age. “In an era dominated by social media, artificial intelligence, and instant communication, media literacy is no longer optional—it is essential. The ability to verify facts, understand media narratives, and consume content responsibly is the backbone of a strong democracy,” said Dr. Marwah.
The workshop featured an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers. Prof. Dr. K. G. Suresh, Director of India Habitat Centre, highlighted the evolving role of media institutions in shaping public discourse and called for ethical journalism rooted in national interest.
Prof. Anubhuti Yadav, HoD, New Media at Indian Institute of Mass Communication, spoke about digital transformation, fact-checking, and the growing responsibility of journalists in combating misinformation. Dr. Ritu Dubey Tiwari, Principal of NISCORT Media College, elaborated on the academic integration of media literacy into journalism education.
Senior media professionals including Deep Mathur, Ex-PRO, MCD, and Gautam Lahiri, former President of the Press Club of India, also addressed the audience, sharing their experiences and insights into responsible reporting and media ethics.
On the occasion, a book prepared by RJS Media focusing on media awareness and journalistic responsibility was formally released, adding academic value to the event. Several prominent journalists were also honoured with the festival memento in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the field of media and communication.
In his concluding remarks, Uday Manna thanked the organizers, speakers, and participants for making the workshop a grand success. He reiterated that media literacy is the need of the hour to empower citizens against misinformation and sensationalism.
The workshop reinforced the festival’s commitment to strengthening journalism education, promoting ethical media practices, and preparing the next generation of media professionals for the challenges of the digital world.
